general synoptic situation:

A depression 998 north-west Russia moves north-eastwards. A 

depression 997 west of the Black Sea moves towards Ukraine.  A 

broad trough extends from Sweden via Germany to the Alps and 

weakens. An extensive high 1032 lies around 500 nautical miles 

west of Ireland. It weakens slightly and slowly moves eastwards. 

A ridge over southern France hardly changes. Another ridge 

Hebrides swings towards central Germany. On Thursday, a low 1004 

Faroe Islands moves into the northern part of the North Sea.
