general synoptic situation:

A high 1041 east of the St Petersburg area moves to the western 

part of Ukraine while weakening. A ridge extending towards the 

Balkans remains largely unchanged. A deep low 965 close to the 

southwest of Iceland, moves to the northeastern part of the 

Irminger Sea while weakening. Its cold front extending across the

North Sea southwards moves eastwards and will extend from Gotland

to the southern Baltic Sea on Friday evening. A high 1024 over 

southern France moves to northern Germany while intensifying.
