general synoptic situation:

A low 1000 Gulf of Bothnia deepens. A low 1002 southern part of 

the Norwegian Sea fills up. A high 1025 Bay of Biscay moves to 

the Alps. A ridge extending to the Black Sea hardly changes. A 

low 983 southwest of Iceland moves to the Faroe Islands while 

slightly weakening. The associated frontal system shifts from the

North Sea to the Baltic Sea.
