general synoptic situation:

A low-pressure system, 1000 Viking, is moving towards Karelia, 

accompanied by a slight deepening. A trough extends to the 

northern Baltic Sea and is turning north-eastwards. Another 

trough is sweeping from Scotland towards the south-eastern Baltic

Sea. A high-pressure system 1026 at 50 North 26 West is moving 

towards the English Channel. A ridge extends as far as the Alps 

and is moving towards Poland. From Thursday, another ridge will 

move from the Shetland Islands towards southern Norway.
