general synoptic situation:

A deepening low 1001 over the western part of the Baltic Sea is 

moving towards the Gulf of Finland. A ridge of the Azores High 

1033 extends to the British Isles and is moving towards northern 

Germany while weakening. On Friday, the ridge will build to 

southeastern Europe. A low 989 over the Irminger Sea will be 

temporarily deepening on its way towards the Faroe Islands. Its 

frontal system will move across the North Sea on Friday.

north 6 to 7, shifting northwest, decreasing 5 to 6.
