general synoptic situation:

A low 1000 near the Aland Islands moves across the Gulf of Riga 

eastwards while filling. An associated trough, extending towards 

the western Baltic Sea, moves across the central Baltic Sea 

northeastwards. A high 1021 over Luxembourg moves towards eastern

Poland. An associated ridge, extending to Viking, shifts towards 

southern Finland. On Thursday evening, a front of a low 978 near 

Iceland will reach the North Sea and moves eastwards.

southwest to south.
