general synoptic situation:

An extensive high 1032 over the British Isles remains 

stationary. A broad ridge is extending to the Balkans. 

Another ridge towards Lapland swings towards southern 

Sweden while weakening. An extensive low 1001 over western 

Russia with a trough towards eastern Ukraine is moving 

slightly northwards while weakening. On Tuesday evening it 

starts to connect with a low 980 north of Spitsbergen.
