general synoptic situation:

A gale 968 over the Norwegian Sea is moving toward Spitsbergen 

while weakening. A secondary low 1005 near Stockholm is moving 

toward the Baltic States as it fills. A high 1031 over northern 

France is moving toward the Czech Republic. An associated ridge 

is moving from the North Sea to the Baltic Sea. A gale 936 with 

hurricane-force winds near 59 North, 25 West is deepening 

slightly as it moves toward Iceland. Starting Wednesday evening, 

it will move toward the Norwegian Sea while weakening.
