general synoptic situation:

A gale 968 over the Norwegian Sea is moving toward Spitsbergen 

while weakening. A secondary low 1009 south of the Aland Islands 

is moving toward the Baltic States as it fills. A high 1032 over 

northern France is moving toward the Czech Republic. An 

associated ridge is moving from the North Sea to the Baltic Sea. 

A deep low 933 with hurricane-force winds sout of Iceland moves 

to the Norwegian Sea, weakening.
