general synoptic situation:

An extensive high pressure system 1035 east of the Moscow 

area weakens. A gale 982 north-west of Ireland moves 

towards the Oslo Fjord and weakens somewhat. Troughs cross 

the southern part of the North Sea and later the Baltic 

Sea. A distinctive trough follows from Monday evening. A 

high 1028 near the Azores moves towards the southern Bay 

of Biscay. A ridge reaches the Alps and intensifies.
