general synoptic situation:

A low 988 Lapland moves to the Barents Sea. A trough extending to

western Ukraine swings northeastwards. The Azores High 1032 

weakens. A ridge extending to the Alps hardly changes. A deep low

978 Faroe Islands moves towards Haltenbank while weakening. An 

associated trough will swing across the North Sea on Thursday and

across the Baltic Sea on Friday.
