general synoptic situation:

A trough of low-pressure 1008 Estonia, 1003 Jutland 

weakens slightly in the western part. A high 1027 Iceland 

and an associated ridge towards England weaken. Another 

ridge directed towards Lapland strengthens and forms an 

independent high 1022. An extensive low 998 western France 

moves towards north-eastern France, weakening. Troughs 

reach the English Channel.
