general synoptic situation:

An extensive high-pressure system 1037 over western Russia is 

moving slowly eastwards. A ridge over southern Norway will begin 

to retreat eastwards from early Thursday morning. A low-pressure 

system 993 at the east coast of Scotland is moving towards the 

east coast of Iceland whilst weakening. A low-pressure system 997

over Thames is deepening as it moves towards Utsira. The ridge of

the Azores High 1028 is expanding from southern Germany towards 

Poland.
