general synoptic situation:

A high 1039 over Russia is moving towards Kazakhstan. A ridge 

over southern Norway is weakening. A low 993 over the western 

part of the North Sea is moving towards Haltenbank while 

temporarily deepening. A trough is slowly moving northeastwards 

from western Poland. A ridge of the Azores High is building from 

southern Germany towards Poland. On Thursday evening, a deep low 

974 will move from the Celtic Sea towards the English Channel.
