general synoptic situation:

An extensive low 986 over Lake Ladoga is slowly moving 

eastwards. A high 1019 over the Alps is moving tow Eastern 

Europe while temporarily weakening. An associated ridge is 

shifting from the North Sea to the Baltic States. A 

thundery low 1009 over France is moving to the 

southeastern part of the Baltic Sea while deepening 

slightly. An extensive low 987 south of the Irminger Sea 

is moving to Iceland while temporarily deepening. A broad 

and intensifying ridge of the Azores High will build 

towards the Alps on Thursday.
