general synoptic situation:

An extensive low 990 northwestern Russia hardly changes. A trough

swings south-eastward from the Skagerrak to the southern Baltic 

Sea. A high 1032 east of Scotland moves south-eastward towards 

the German Bight while weakening. A complex low 995 central North

Atlantic deepens. On Thursday, a secondary low 1006 will form 

southwest of Iceland and move slightly north-eastward while 

deepening. An associated trough will swing from the Celtic Sea to

the eastern North Sea.
