general synoptic situation:

A deep depression 971 north of the Lofoten Islands is moving 

northeastwards while weakening. Another deep depression 960 

southeast of Iceland is moving towards the Lofoten Islands while 

weakening. An associated trough will reach the British Isles from

the west on Friday evening. A high 1025 over southern Poland is 

moving towards western Russia.
