general synoptic situation:

A deep low 964 Faroe Islands moves towards the North Cape, 

weakening. The associated cold front extends from the Gulf of 

Bothnia to the English Channel and moves slowly southeastward. 

During the night to Saturday, a low 1001 will form near the 

British Isles and move towards the southwestern North Sea. A 

ridge of high pressure connecting a high 1025 east of the Azores 

with a high 1026 over northern Ukraine weakens.
