general synoptic situation:

A deep low 959 over the southwestern part of the Kara Sea moves 

northeastwards, weakening. A secondary low 987 over Karelia moves

northeastwards while filling up. Another secondary low 992 will 

form over the Gulf of Bothnia by Sunday evening and move slowly 

southeastwards. A low 1000 close to the west of the Bay of Biscay

moves to southern Spain while filling up. The ridge of a high 

1027 southwest of Iceland extends from Scotland to southern 

Germany.
