general synoptic situation:

A depp low 972 over northwestern Russia is moving 

north-eastwards while temporarily slightly deepening. An 

associated trough, which extends across the western Baltic 

Sea to the English Channel, moves south-eastwards. Another 

trough extending towards the Skagerrak will reach the 

Baltic States on Friday morning. A secondary low 979 

Haltenbank moves across southern Scandinavia to the Baltic 

States, weakening. A high 1036 Irminger See weakens and 

expands towards France.
