general synoptic situation:

A high 1028 is shifting its center northeastward from southern 

Germany, intensifying slightly. A ridge extending toward the Gulf

of Finland is shifting southward and weakening. Another ridge 

over the North Sea is expanding toward northern Norway, with 

temporary intensification. A low 1015 in northern Sweden is 

moving across the northern part of the Baltic Sea toward 

northwestern Russia. An extensive low 991 far west of Ireland is 

weakening.
