general synoptic situation:

A deep low 998 over Gotland moves towards the Baltic States and 

slowly weakens from Wednesday on. A high 1024 west of the Iberian

Peninsula moves towards Ireland while weakening slightly. A ridge

extending towards the Faroe Islands intensifies and swings 

towards the Lofoten Islands. Another ridge extending towards the 

Alps intensifies.

Southwestern North Sea:
