general synoptic situation:	

A high of 1037 over central Finland and Karelia is weakening and 

moving slightly westward. A ridge extending to southern Norway is

stationary. Another ridge extending to Ukraine is also hardly 

changing. A complex deep depression of 971 at 52 north 31 west is

moving southeastward. Associated troughs are swinging towards 

France and later towards the Alpine region.
