general synoptic situation:	

A high 1030 over northern Germany moves to Poland. A ridge swings

from Norway to southern Finland. A low 997 over Karelia moves to 

western Russia. A low 983 north of Iceland moves northward. An 

associated wavy front extends southwestward. The front slowly 

progresses eastward and by Thursday evening will lie within a 

trough of low pressure connecting a low 991 over the Norwegian 

Sea with a low 1009 over Spain. Subsequently, the ridge of the 

Azores High 1036 will swing toward the British Isles.
