general synoptic situation:	

A low 1000 Karelia moves towards southwestern Russia. A high 1028

northeastern Germany moves towards Poland. A ridge swings from 

Norway to northwestern Russia. On Thursday, a low 998 forms along

a wavy front near the Faroe Islands. It moves northeastward as it

deepens. Another low 1011 forms over the western entrance to the 

English Channel and moves toward Brittany. Subsequently, the 

ridge of the Azores high 1036 swings toward the British Isles.
