general synoptic situation:	

A gale 990 Barents Sea moves south and weakens. An associated 

trough extends across to Ukraine and will slowly move to the 

Caucasus. An extensive high 1035 southern Norway moves its centre

to Poland and somewhat weakens. From this, a broad ridge extends 

to southeastern Europe. Multiple small-scale lows 1024 will 

develop over the English Channel and the Southwestern North Sea.
