general synoptic situation:	

Between a weakening high 1053 over Kazakhstan and the Azores high

1032, a broad ridge of high pressure extends over southern 

Europe. An extensive deep low 960 east of Iceland deepens and 

moves little northward. An associated frontal system extends 

across southern Norway and the Skagerrak towards the southwest 

and will reach the Baltic States on Thursday noon while 

weakening. Another frontal system will spread from the British 

Isles to the North Sea on Thursday afternoon.
