general synoptic situation:	

A low 996 southern Moscow area moves to northeast. A high 

southern Norway 1020 moves to the Baltic States. Meanwhile, a 

ridge of the Azores high extends across the German Bight to 

central Sweden and moves to east. A stationary low 1009 Utsira 

South fills. The eastwards traveling frontal system of a North 

Atlantic low arrives at the western portions of the North Sea on 

Sunday and a secondary low develops at the front on Monday.
