general synoptic situation:

An extensive high-pressure system 1033 east of the Moscow area 

weakens. A gale 982 close north-west of Ireland moves towards the

northeastern portion of the North Sea and weakens somewhat. 

Troughs cross the southern part of the North Sea and later the 

Baltic Sea. A distinctive trough follows from today evening. A 

high 1029 near the Azores moves towards the southern Bay of 

Biscay. A ridge reaches the Alps and intensifies.
