general synoptic situation:	

A high 1029 near the Shetland Islands is weakening. A broad ridge

extending towards southeastern Europe is strengthening slightly. 

Another ridge extending towards Lapland is spreading towards the 

Barents Sea and will move eastwards on Thursday. A low 1002 over 

the Irminger Sea is moving to the sea area south of Svalbard. A 

low 1016 over France is remaining largely unchanged. A low 1012 

west of the Bay of Biscay is slowly weakening.
