general synoptic situation:

A deep low 951 in the southern Barents Sea is moving into the 

Kara Sea while weakening. Repeatedly, troughs and secondary lows 

are moving from the Norwegian Sea southeastwards. A low 992 west 

of the Bay of Biscay is moving slightly southeast while 

weakening. A trough extends as far as central Germany. A ridge 

from a high 1026 Irminger Sea extends as far as Poland. This 

ridge forms today in the evening an independent high 1021, which 

is strengthening as it moves eastwards.
