general synoptic situation:

A deep low 954 south of the Barents Sea moves into the Kara Sea, 

weakening, while low troughs move southeastwards from the 

Norwegian Sea. A secondary low 995 forms over the Gulf of Bothnia

on Sunday evening and moves slowly southwards. A low 994 west of 

the Bay of Biscay moves towards northern Portugal, weakening, and

a trough towards central Germany weakens. A ridge between a high 

1026 Irmigersee and a high 1021 Belarus weakens, the high Belarus

moves eastwards.
