general synoptic situation:	

A low 988 over northern Sweden is moving to the Barents Sea. A 

trough extending to eastern Poland is shifting eastwards. A ridge

of the Azores High over the northern part of the North Sea is 

weakening. Another ridge, extending towards the Alps, is building

eastwards. A deep low 976 south of Iceland is moving towards the 

Haltenbank while weakening. An associated trough is moving across

the North Sea towards the western part of the Baltic Sea.
