general synoptic situation:	

A high-pressure system 1037 over western Russia is moving 

eastwards. A ridge over southern Norway is retreating eastwards. 

A low-pressure system 993 over the Shetland Islands is moving 

towards the Greenland Sea. A low-pressure system 997 over Humber 

is moving towards the Norwegian Sea, with a temporary deepening. 

The ridge of the Azores High 1028 is extending from southern 

Germany towards Poland. From Thursday evening, a deep low 974 

will move from the Celtic Sea towards the English Channel.
