general synoptic situation:	

A high-pressure zone extending from Lapland 1024 across southern 

Sweden 1026 to Austria 1026 moves eastwards while intensifying. 

It will extend from northwestern Russia to the Balkans on 

Thursday evening. A deep low 980 far northeast of Newfoundland 

moves to Iceland until Thursday evening, deepening. A secondary 

low 1001 will form today during the day near the Faroe Islands 

and will move towards the Norwegian Sea while deepening.
