<br> A low-pressure system over Italy and Greece is 

causing strong or near-gale winds from the Gulf of Lions 

across the Libyan Sea and to the eastern Mediterranean. 

Initially, wave heights of over 4 m are expected south of 

the Gulf of Lions and in the Taurus region. The winds and 

wave heights will subside slowly. Today and in the coming 

days, severe thunderstorms are expected, particularly in 

the central and eastern Mediterranean. Today, isolated 

thunderstorms will also occur in the western 

Mediterranean.
