general synoptic situation

<br> Today and over the next few days, thunderstorms 

associated with gale-force winds may occur frequently, 

especially in the western Mediterranean. The emphasis of 

the thunderstorms will slowly shift eastward from the 

Balearic Sea to the Tyrrhenian Sea. In some cases, these 

may develop into severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, 

hail and storm gusts. In addition, thunderstorms may occur 

temporarily over the southern part of the Ionian Sea and 

especially on the west coast of Peloponnese this Monday.
