general synoptic situation



valid until Tuesday:

<br> A deep low over the Tyrrhenian Sea is moving 

eastwards and weakening. A new low will form over the 

Ligurian Sea tomorrow and move into the northern Aegean 

Sea by Tuesday evening. Along the edges of these 

low-pressure areas, the wind will be strong or gale-force. 

Storm and hurricane-force gusts are expected, particularly 

around the Gulf of Lion (Mistral) and in the Aegean Sea. 

On Tuesday, the wind will decrease from the west. Today, 

wave heights of up to 7 m are expected southeast of the 

Gulf of Lions. Elsewhere, waves will reach heights of 4 to 

5 m locally. Severe thunderstorms cannot be ruled out 

today and tomorrow, particularly over the central 

Mediterranean. On Tuesday, the focus of the thunderstorms 

will shift eastwards. Please pay attention to local 

warnings.
