general synoptic situation



valid until Friday:

<br> On Wednesday, initially over the southern part of 

the Adriatic Sea strong to gale-force winds (7 Bft) from 

the southeast to south are possible at times. In addition, 

strong to gale-force winds from westerly directions are 

expected over the Gulf of Lion, west of Corsica, southern 

part of the Ligurian Sea and northern part of the 

Tyrrhenian Sea. From Wednesday evening the wind over the 

Ligurian Sea may temporarily increase to about 8 Bft. As a 

result very rough seas of about 4 m may occur. On Thursday 

the wind will initially subside before picking up again 

strong to gale-force over the Gulf of Lion on Friday 

evening. In addition, thunderstorms are expected at times 

over the central Mediterranean on Wednesday. These may 

develop into severe thunderstorms associated with storm 

gusts, heavy rain and hail. From Thursday the thunderstorm 

activity will subside and isolated thunderstorms are 

expected in particular along the Adriatic coast, Friday 

over the Aegean Sea. Please also pay attention to local
