general synoptic situation



valid until Saturday:

<br> Today, Thursday, especially in the western 

Mediterranean and northern part of the central 

Mediterranean, strong to gale-force winds from variable 

directions in some areas. In addition, strong to 

gale-force Meltemi from northerly directions locally over 

the Aegean. On Friday, partly gale-force winds (7 to 8 

Bft) from west to southwest with heavy storm gusts 

possible over the Ligurian Sea. In association, temporary 

very rough seas of about 4 m cannot be completely ruled 

out. In addition, repeated thunderstorms over the western 

Mediterranean and the northern part of the central 

Mediterranean on Thursday and Friday, some of them severe 

with (heavy) storm gusts possible. While thunderstorm 

activity will decrease on Saturday in the western 

Mediterranean, thunderstorms with gale-force gusts may 

continue to occur in the central Mediterranean.
