general synoptic situation



valid until Friday:

<br> On WEDNESDAY, strong to near gale-force northerly 

winds over the Gulf of Lion and the Ionian Sea. Strong to 

near gale-force northeasterly winds over the northern 

Aegean Sea. Strong to near gale-force westerly winds over 

the Libyan Sea and parts of the eastern Mediterranean. 

Over the Aegean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean, severe 

thunderstorms with storm gusts, hail, and heavy rain. On 

THURSDAY, strong to near gale-force northerly winds will 

continue over the Aegean Sea, and strong to near 

gale-force westerly winds will persist over parts of the 

eastern Mediterranean. Additionally, the Bora will bring 

strong to near gale-force northeasterly winds over the 

northern Adriatic. Over the Aegean Sea and the eastern 

Mediterranean, severe thunderstorms with stormy gusts, 

hail, and heavy rain. On FRIDAY, strong Bora winds will 

continue in parts of the northern Adriatic. In addition, 

strong northeasterly winds will occur in parts of the 

Ligurian Sea and west of Corsica. Thunderstorms with 

gale-force gusts are expected, particularly over the 

western and central Mediterranean.
