general synoptic situation



valid until Saturday:

<br> On Thursday from the western to the eastern 

Mediterranean Sea locally near gale force or gale force 

winds with storm force gusts. Between Cyprus and the coast 

of Turkey locally 9 Bft and gusts 12 Bft. Locally very 

rough sea with significant wave heights up to 5 m, in the 

sea area Taurus up to 7 m. From the western to the eastern 

Mediterranean Sea partly severe thunderstorms with 

hurricane-force squalls and heavy rain. On Friday over the 

southern and western parts of the Mediterranean Sea 

locally near gale force winds, mostly from westerly 

directions. Friday evening over the southwestern 

Mediterranean Sea gale force winds and storm force gusts. 

Additionally, over the eastern Mediterranean Sea around 

the sea area Taurus near gale force or gale force winds 

with storm force gusts. At first west of Sardinia, later 

in the Alboran Sea and the sea area Palos very rough sea 

with significant wave heights between 4 and 5 m. From the 

western to the eastern Mediterranean Sea locally 

thunderstorms, particularly over the eastern Mediterranean 

Sea severe thunderstorms possible! On Saturday over the 

western Mediterranean Sea widespread near gale force 

winds, locally gale force winds, later over the Gulf of 

Lion isolated intense gale with hurricane force gusts. 

Additionally, over the sea area Taurus near gale force or 

gale force winds with storm force gusts. In the western 

Mediterranean Sea and the sea area Taurus locally very 

rough sea with significant wave heights up to 5 m. From 

the western to the eastern Mediterranean Sea locally 

thunderstorms, partly severe thunderstorms possible.
