Friday, temporarily strong to gale-force winds from the 

southeast in the Strait of Otranto and in the eastern part 

of the Ionian Sea. Locally, (heavy) storm gusts may occur. 

Today and in the upcoming days, thunderstorms associated 

with gale-force gusts may occur frequently, initially in 

the western Mediterranean and later in the central 

Mediterranean. In some cases, these may develop into 

severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail, and storm 

gusts.
